"We Are Not Bus Conductors That Ask For Change" – Patience Jonathan

The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, supported her husband's campaign by making mockery of APC's campaign slogan "change."

Patience Jonathan Pdp campaign

Speaking at the PDP Women for Change Initiative Presidential Rally in Delta state said:
“The PDP is a party that talks less and does more, unlike the APC that tells new lies every week. When you catch them today, they will tell another lie tomorrow. We (PDP) do not tell you about change because we are not bus conductors that ask for change.
"We are now in a digital age and we should reject anyone who wants to take us back to analog days. They keep saying they will do this and that. They should tell us what they have done for Nigerians while in office. As for President Jonathan, he has vowed to do more when he is re-elected.
"President Jonathan has brought a lot of innovation and empowerment programmes for us women. This is because no one loves the Nigerian woman more than Mr. President and the best way to pay him back is by re-electing him.”
She stressed that any woman who votes for APC, is an enemy of herself.

Shocking! Man Sells His Own Baby For 300k [See Photo]

A middle-aged palm tree harvester, George Maduabuchi, from Owerrinta in the Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State is in the police net for allegedly selling his 14-month-old son for N300,000.

Man sells son, man sells his child

Punch reports that the father of four was said to have connived with another suspect, Obinna Erondu, now at large, to perpetrate the act.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joshak Habila, who paraded the suspect along with other suspected criminals on Thursday, said,
“Luck ran out on Maduabuchi when the wife alerted the police on his questionable role when the baby fell ill and he took him out and did not return with him.”
But the suspect told our correspondent that he did not sell his son, but only took him to a herbalist when he took ill.
He said,
“The herbalist gave me money and told me that he could not heal the baby. I therefore left the baby in the herbalist’s home.”
But his explanation was countered by his wife, Eberechi, who said he took their son, who had a cough to the said herbalist, but instead of returning with the baby, rather came back with bundles of money.

She said,
“When I demanded explanations on the whereabouts of our son, he could not offer any convincing answer.”
The wife, who is also pregnant, said she raised the alarm, which attracted neighbours who helped to arrest the husband.

The neighbours subsequently alerted the police, who picked up the husband who later led the police to the herbalist’s house at Owerrinta where the boy was recovered.

"Produce The Real Shekau" – Fayose Tells APC

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has reacted to the claim by the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation that the Federal Government was planning to use a fake Ibrahim Shekau to implicate the party’s presidential candidate, Major General Mohammadu Buhari (retd).

Fayose

According to. New statement by him, he challenged  APC to reveal the real Shekau since they know the original.
“Up till today, the APC has not made any statement, commending our gallant soldiers that are laying down their lives to save Nigerians from the Boko Haram insurgents,” saying, “instead of commending the soldiers and encouraging them, what the APC  are doing is to blackmail the military and one wonders why a party will want to take over power by supporting killing of innocent Nigerians.”
“With the onslaught on the Boko Haram by our gallant soldiers, the APC appears to have lost the game of using the insurgency to campaign against President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Instead of them to face this reality, they have come up with this criminal assertion that a fake leader of Boko Haram, Ibrahim Shekau, was being presented before Nigerians by the government, in order to claim winning the war on terrorism.
“They are also claiming the fake Shekau might become a tool to blackmail members of the opposition, by coaching the phantom terror chief to say he was working for its presidential candidate,  Buhari,, in order to link him to terrorism.
“With this statement coming from the APC, it is clear that the party knows what we don’t know about Boko Haram. It also indicates that the APC people do not want the Boko Haram insurgency to end so that they can continue to make political gains from it.”
“APC should, therefore, simply produce the original Shekau that they know because you can only recognise fake when you know the original.”

BREAKING NEWS: Buhari May Be Disqualified On March 19 – See Details

The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, yesterday, fixed March 19 to commence hearing on seven separate suits seeking to disqualify the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), from contesting the forthcoming general elections.

Buhari may be disqualified on March 19
Buhari

According to reports by Vanguard, all the seven cases have been assigned to Justice Ademola Adeniyi who presided over two of the suits yesterday.

Meantime, both Buhari and the APC, who are defendants in the matter alongside the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday, maintained that they would not accept the service of the court processes which they said were not validly served on them.

They challenged the propriety of orders of Justice Adeniyi which had permitted the plaintiffs to serve the originating summons on them through substituted means.

Justice Adeniyi had on February 2, directed that the court processes be served on the defendants by publishing same in three national dailies.

The court also granted an order of abridgment of time within which the defendants must respond to the suits.

However, both Buhari and his party, contended that there was no urgency in the matter to warrant the court to hear the suits in a hurry.

Thus, in separate preliminary objections filed by counsel to Buhari, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, and that of the APC, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, they asked the court to set-aside all the orders it has made in the matter so far.

They further contended that the subject matter of the suit bothers on pre-election issues which they said is not time bound, adding that it can be determined even after the March 28 presidential election.

Nevertheless, Chief Mike Ozehkome, SAN, who represented the plaintiffs yesterday, urged the court to expedite hearing on the matter so as to determine Buhari’s fate before the presidential election.

His submission infuriated Buhari’s lawyer, Olanipekun, SAN, who argued that the suit challenging the certificate his client submitted to the INEC, has nothing to do with the election itself.
“My lord what he is saying is that this case must end before this election. It is a wrong impression. This case has nothing to do with the conduct of the election. What if the presidential election was held on February 14?”, Olanipekun queried.
Likewise, INEC through its lawyer Mr. Hassan Liman, SAN, yesterday, said it would file a preliminary objection to challenge both the competence of the suits which were filed by the two plaintiffs, Mr. Chukwunweike Okafor and Mr. Max Ozoaka, as well as the jurisdiction of the court to entertain them.

Breaking News: PDP To Suspend Obasanjo Over Anti Party Activities

Some top members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has announced its intention to suspend former president Olusegun Obasanjo due to anti-party activities.

PDP to suspend Obasanjo over anti party activities

MirrorNigeria learnt that the party took the decision after Obasanjo endorsed APC's presidential candidate Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria's next president as well as his uncomplimentary remarks on President Jonathan.

According to TheNation newspaper, an unnamed BOT member said:
“From the President to party leaders, we were all sad by Obasanjo’s attacks against the person of the President who had shown him much respect. We all concluded that what the ex-President did in an election year amounted to anti-party activities. Some of our leaders have started demanding for Obasanjo’s suspension from the party. They said there was no point having Obasanjo in PDP to give him more leverage to destroy the party".
"Worse still, these angry leaders said Obasanjo had written off his party by openly canvassing for the All Progressives Congress (APC). No matter the situation, you do not discredit and abandon your party for another. Obasanjo cannot be a bonafide member of PDP and be attacking the party’s presidential candidate".
“The preponderance of opinion is that we should damn the consequences by suspending him from the party. But some are saying we should ignore him. To most PDP members, we should ask him to go because he has even reduced his involvement in PDP to ward activities. Do not forget, he was not a founding member of the PDP".

See The Woman Who Got Married To Herself

A woman from Houston Yasmin Eleby, got married to herself on January 3rd after finding herself still single at 40.

Yasmin Elby, woman who married herself

However, she received lots of bashing from the online community for marrying herself. Many mocked her while others disagreed with her methods and slammed her.

Anyways, Yasmin has clapped back at her critics, saying she doesn't regret what she did.

Speaking with The Roots, Yasmin sat down to explain why she did what she did and why her family and friends supported her.

She said:
"The ceremony is not about me being bitter for not having a man. It wasn’t like, “OK, I’m upset that I’m 40 and don’t have a man.” I wanted to show myself my self-love, my self-worth and my self-respect. It was always about me loving me. When God sends me my husband, he will come, but until then, I’m OK with it just being with me."
"For a few years leading up to my 40th birthday, I’d been joking that if I didn’t have a wedding by 40 that I would just have one myself without a groom. I thought having a wedding ceremony would be a unique way to celebrate my 40th with my family and my friends. And the closer that it got, I realized I had to put up or shut up.
The Root: I’ve been reading the reactions to all the stories on you, and a common comment is, “Where were her friends? They didn’t stop her!” When you told your friends—like, “Hey, guys, I’m going to have a wedding and marry myself!”—what did they say?
"Some of them didn’t believe me. They thought I was joking, but once I explained to them what it would be about, they were supportive.'
The Root: When the invites for the ceremony went out to guests, what was their response?
"Not very many people knew it was a wedding. It was kind of a surprise. The invitations just said come celebrate my birthday in a unique way. I invited two of my exes. They were both happy for me. They were excited about it once they got there and realized what was happening."
The Root: A lot of people have assumed that marrying yourself was an act of desperation. What exactly was the ceremony about for you?
"The ceremony is not about me being bitter for not having a man. It wasn’t like, OK, I’m upset that I’m 40 and don’t have a man. I wanted to show myself my self-love, my self-worth and my self-respect. It was always about me loving me. When God sends me my husband, he will come, but until then, I’m OK with it just being with me."
The Root: What vows did you take during the ceremony?
"The first one was about forgiving myself. We’ve all made mistakes. I had to realize that if I ask for forgiveness, then it’s done. I don’t have to keep dwelling on the past. I can let it go. My second vow was to honor myself as a beautiful, fabulous being, conscious of making decisions for myself and to honor my self-worth. The third vow was love. I made a promise to love myself and to know that the more love I have for myself, the more love I have to share with others. "
The Root: This all sounds so sweet, but it’s been received in a much different light. What do you think of the reactions to your ceremony?
"It has been blown way out of proportion. From the few comments that I’ve read, they’re trying to paint me as crazy or bitter about not having a husband, and that is so not the case. I’m not bitter, I‘m not crazy. I’m just a fun-loving unique individual, and I just wanted to do something special and different."
The Root: In hindsight, do you have any regrets about the ceremony?
"Not one."
